Are You Ready For Goats?
At Noosa Goat Co we teach that start with your end goal in mind and then make your purchases from that space.
Yes baby goats are cute but the reality is they can live up to 15 years and they need space to browse.
The rule of thumb is two goats per acre thats to cover you in time of draught so you are not constantly supplementing food.
Once you are clear what you want long term then you can either start slow or go all in.
Picking Your Goats
From the hills of Noosa Hinterland we strive to create the healthiest Holistically raised goats in Australia which are perfect to add to the family for your homestead as milking goats or fun loving pets.
Goats in every home is our vision whether this be having your own herd of goats on your homestead or through our luxury artesian goat milk products.
Goats milk has so many incredible health benefits and we aim to create the best quality raw goats milk in Australia not only in taste but in nutrient density.
The manure is also liquid gold for your fruit trees, veggie gardens and pastures and is an essential part of regenerative and organic farming.
We have three main markets that we cater for:
Homesteaders – Who realise the importance of food quality and food security for a thriving healthy family.
Pets – Many families are wanting their kids to learn to grow up with livestock and Nigerian Dwarf Goats are perfect for this. PS if you are a big kid you can still get pet goats we give you permission 😉
Primary Producers – Those who are wanting to make a business from goats or goat products and professionally breed.
Our two most popular packages are a pair of Wethers (desexed males) which are the perfect pets or for those wanting to start their homesteader journey we recommend 2 does, a buck and a wether. In the second package you need two paddocks so the two does live together and the buck and the wether live in other.

Preparing Your Paddocks
Once you have made the decision that Nigerian Dwarf Goats are right for you its then about making sure you are ready. If you still aren’t sure you can head over to our education page which will constantly be updated with lots of goodness, their are free resources as well as paid courses for those that want to delve deeper. While yes Nigerian Dwarf Goats from a professional registered breeder like ourself are do hold a premium price tag, the benefits are you get what you pay for, in particular height is important, for ND’s you only need a 1.2 metre dog fence to keep them in. We constantly hear stories of people who bought cheap goats from a backyard cowboy who told them they were minature goats but they grew up to be standard size goats and now its a nightmare as they are a family pet but constantly break out and cause havic. Our goats are way to short and fat for that and as long as they have a shelter which protects them from the elements, food, clean water and their minerals they are quite happy in their safe space.
We recommend rotational grazing which means placing their shelter in between 2 paddocks so you can give a paddock a rest every 3 to 4 weeks. This is the number one thing you can do to keep your herd healthy. For boundary fencing we recommend 1.2 metre 13 strand dog fencing, we also a put two barb wire above and one below to protect from wild dogs. Internal fencing to help with rotations can be electric fencing but we do not recommend netting as we have almost lost goats who got their head stuck.
Most questions around this can be answered by just giving us a call or a message on socials, contact details are at the bottom of the website.
NOTE: We will be interrogating you to make sure you are the right for for our babies. One important thing to know is goats are classified as livestock so although they create wonderful pets we recommend an acre (minimum half an acre) but you will need to check the zoning laws of your particular council
As we are unique in our approach
we have a waiting list and pre sell our goats.
The way we work is as soon as the does are confirmed pregnant we contact everyone on the list in order of who was on their first and we take a 50% deposit, the remaining 50% is due when kids are born and on the ground. However you cannot take them home for 8 to 12 weeks as we make sure they are healthy and strong before they leave.
Goats for Sale
We also from time to time have a few extra goats for sale that will be displayed here this is because we will always have more born than we pre sell to make sure everyone who purchases is guaranteed their baby goats.
We will also display bucks here as we only sell our very best purebred boys as bucks.
The rule is a buck is half your herd so investing in a high quality buck is a really important decision.
